EHS Manager - Buffalo, NY - Job Code NS08D01

Position Overview:

    Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Manager to provide industrial EHS expertise; the primary responsibility of this role is to act as a subject matter expert at the plant level regarding manufacturing safety and best practices.

      Duties & Responsibilities:

        • Manages daily activities to ensure interaction with facility management team, advisors, and employees in order to increase awareness and education levels regarding safe and compliant work
        • Leading the development and execution of a site EH&S Strategy to drive a facility safety culture of accountability
        • Works as a Subject Matter Expert to develop and implement site specific policies and programs to ensure the facility is in compliance with health and safety requirements in accordance with federal/state/local regulatory and Company requirements
        • Acts as the site primary regulatory agency liaison for all agency communications representative for Health & Safety
        • Analyzes incident data to identify trends and incident types that can be prevented; partners with Plant Management team to identify and implement proactive safety improvements based on trends
        • Perform job site analysis to determine employee & property exposures, and institute safe work practices
        • Conducts daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual safety inspections, document findings, and implement corrective actions
        • Maintains all site required documentation related to health and safety programs (i.e. accident reports, inspection reports, corrective action logs, training records, etc.)
        • Coordinate industrial hygiene sampling including airborne fiber monitoring
        • Responsible for pre-start safety operations review and evaluation of manufacturing process and handling with respect to safety and airborne fiber exposure
        • Oversight responsibility for land fill, waste minimization and hazardous waste minimization plans; record progress
        • Ensure compliance of all facility permits (air, water, radiation, etc.), keeping permits up-to-date
        • Coordinate emergency response, first aid response and other facility response programs
        • Conducts monthly coaching sessions with direct reports

          Minimum Qualifications:

            • Bachelor’s Degree required
            • Preference for those with a CSP or CIH
            • Expertise in OSHA, EPA
            • Extensive background in a manufacturing/industrial environment
            • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
            • Ability to lead change
