Senior Director, Executive Compensation

This position reports to the Executive Sr. Director of Executive Compensation and provides support to senior leadership and the various business groups with all aspects of executive compensation for the company’s top executives.

The successful candidate will work closely with the senior leadership compensation strategy, projects and analysis, providing recommendations for CEO approval.

This position will also provide support and participate in reviews with the Senior Vice-President Human Resources, Chief Human Resources Officer as well as the independent compensation consultant for the Board of Directors.

A successful candidate for this position should be able to balance competing priorities, have strong analytical and technical skills, and have collaborative, customer centric interpersonal skills to work effectively with other professionals and senior management to deliver thoughtful recommendations and solutions.  A candidate for this role should be detail oriented and business acumen.  The individual will also need the ability to adjust presentations and recommendations to a level suitable for the targeted audience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attain a complete working knowledge of the corporation’s executive compensation policies and processes
  • Serve as point of contact for the diverse strategic business units.
  • Assist the business groups and VP of the Compensation and Benefits in the analysis and preparation of executive-level offers for entire company.
  • Prepare equity buy-out analysis and recommendations for external offers.
    • Participate in planning and preparation of annual bonus and long-term incentive pool recommendations
    • Prepare, support and/or conduct presentations to senior leadership and the board of directors.
    • Understand market trends and requirements of external influencers and shareholders.
      • Prepare materials for the Management Development and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
      • Participate in developing approach and drafting of the executive and director compensation sections of the annual Proxy statement for shareowners.
        • Build strong business acumen and understand competitive landscape.
        • Assist with the design, administration and communications regarding the annual incentive plan, long- term Performance Plan, and long-term equity awards
        • Support and participate in Shareowner outreach efforts.
        • Coordinate survey submissions for Executive job market pricing.
        • Work with the law department to ensuring legality and compliance
          • Own or serve as back-up for certain routine processes
          • Assist businesses with executive retention or severance events as necessary.
          • Work with Finance to understand & communicate cost implications of actions being considered.
          • Work with stock plan team to monitor and track share spend against approved LTI pools.
          • Participate in supporting related analysis and recommendations in M&A transactions, as needed.


  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years’ experience in a Compensation or role with recent exposure to executive compensation.
  • Strong Excel (power user), PowerPoint and Word skills.


  • MBA desired
  • Executive or Global Compensation experience required, including a working knowledge of technical areas impacting executive compensation (equity compensation, market pricing, governance, trends

and accounting)
